The Educational Trust for British Bridge is a registered charity and believes that bridge has an immense educational value and that the survival of the game needs the next generation to enjoy it as much as we all do. As a result of this the ETBB gives out grants to schools or organisations who need help in organising the development of bridge for young people in full-time education.

Recently grants have been approved to assist with attendance at the World Junior Pairs and Camp; to further the implementation of bridge teaching in schools on the Isle of Wight; to produce a bidding box for MiniBridge; and to help Northern Ireland send its girls' team to a practice event in England and six kids to a practice event in Glasgow.

Having initially been Treasurer of the Trust when it was established in 1991, Tom Bradley was then appointed as a trustee in 1995. The Tom Bradley Award of up to £500 has now been set up in his memory, to be given to the club or school making the best contribution to bridge for young people. A good case for using the money has to be presented — for example by paying for a teacher, buying equipment, sending players to a bridge event or holding a party to welcome new players.

The Trust relies on donations and bequests for its work and any contributions, large or small, will be much appreciated, from clubs, individual players, or any other bridge-related source.
