The late Tom Bradley was the first
treasurer of the ETBB in 1991, when the trust was established, and he was
appointed as a trustee when a vacancy occurred in 1995.
He was an enthusiastic supporter of the
trust's aims and a wise guardian of our finances.
The trust has now recognised Tom's
contribution to its work by establishing the Tom Bradley Award of £500, to be
given to the club or school making the best contribution to bridge for young
people, who present a good case for using the money — for example by paying for
a teacher, buying equipment, sending players to a bridge event or holding a
party to welcome new players.
Applications are welcome from all who work in promoting bridge among young people in full-time education. The closing date for applications to be the first recipient of the award is June 30, 2008. Send entries to ETBB secretary, Patrick Jourdain at
pdjourdain@hotmail.com.
we hope to receive reports from all these worthy schemes
detailing what use the money was put to.
